Yeah! Just wondering if it's one of the really easy kinda questions can you just write the answer in the booklet or do you have to make reference to the page number, or can you do both?
I would go for referencing the page number in the exam paper. It saves time. You can't do both. It will be a waste of time to do that.

Okay thanx
Circle the answers in the notes and write the question number on the margin. On the exam paper, write the page number. It will take you an hour to do it (I finished in that time).

Hi,

Basically I failed Unit 9 in year 12 so I’m retaking it again this year but I’ve had no help/revision lessons from my teachers  .

I have no idea on how to start this pre-release and the exam is on Tuesday (07/06/05) and I’m only just starting today :s:

This is this year pre-release:
http://www.ocr.org.uk/OCR/WebSite/Da...nform88025.pdf

I just need some tips on getting started and where I can find some information/help on the tasks because if the work I did last year was so bad that I failed then I can't really rely on it to help me.

Thanks

Just start from the beginning of the pre-release material. To find information, use the case study and the internet. Make sure you make it into your own words. If you have some books or notes from last year, you might want to use them. Some questions from last year are kind of similar. You could look back at your old pre-release notes and the notes in class.

OK,
Thanks,
It seems a lot harder this year, or I've just forgotten everything LOL

As for my notes from last year, well they're not the best.
We didn't have the best of teachers and all he said each lesson was:
"Go Research..."
Then we would go on the Internet and find information on what ever he said.
Printouts from the internet aren't the greatest help when the information on it is to advanced

LOL :dong:

I agree with you that some stuff are too detailed on the internet. Just find out the main points in that website and use it. Some of them are common sense for some questions (e.g. i remember there is a questions about good and bad things about e-mail).

At least your notes are sufficient to do the pre-release material though. When I compare last year's unit 2 and this year's unit 2, the questions are same/similar, they just change the name of the company. :p: If there are the same/similar questions for unit 9, I would use your notes from last year and modify them to fit this year's questions and maybe add more detail to it too.

By the way, I'm not doing this unit. If you need help, I'll try to help you.

I wish you good luck for tommorow.

Congrats. Hope Edexcel won't mark you down. I hope the teacher mark them as fairly as they can, so there won't be any marking down.

In my school, not even once the coursework mark has changed after moderation.

I'm guessing UMS means my overall marks,
If that is the right meaning then it is OCRs UMS.

If anyone knows the grade boundaries for them it would be helpful, thanks

I'm not sure about the grade boundaries. Yeah, UMS is the overall marks. Just add them all up to see where you stand so far. Try predicting combinations on the units that hasn't been done yet, so you can predict the grade you need to get in that unit to get a grade A.

Hi guys,

Cheers. By the way i wasn't trying to go 'look at me' etc... I haven't posted in this area of the forum in a while and was just keeping you guys updated. I know Trev is pretty much on his way to an A.

P.S I'm not smart, just lucky.

P.P.S. Edexcel if you are reading this, don't mark my work down, AGAIN!!!!!!!

We know you are not showing off. Nice to see the update. During results day, we should know how everyone done in AVCE ICT. I hope I'm not the only one that gets a grade B, lol.

Not neccessary getting an A this year, I just scrapped an A in AS. Maybe I will geta B overall, as I am doing an exam in A2 VCE, which I might get a D. Therefore, it will drag it down to a grade B. I know I will get a grade do for the A2 VCE exam, as I got a grade D in AS VCE for the exam.

I hope edexcel isreading that 'P.P.S' note. :p:

Hello,

If the grade boundaries are the same as Edexcel's, they will be:

Individual units:

0/24 = 0 UMS GRADE U
1/24 = 8 UMS
2/24 = 15 UMS
3/24 = 23 UMS
4/24 = 30 UMS
5/24 = 33 UMS
6/24 = 37 UMS
7/24 = 40 UMS GRADE E
8/24 = 43 UMS
9/24 = 47 UMS
10/24 = 50 UMS GRADE D
11/24 = 53 UMS
12/24 = 57 UMS
13/24 = 60 UMS GRADE C
14/24 = 63 UMS
15/24 = 67 UMS
16/24 = 70 UMS GRADE B
17/24 = 73 UMS
18/24 = 77 UMS
19/24 = 80 UMS GRADE A
20/24 = 84 UMS
21/24 = 88 UMS
22/24 = 92 UMS
23/24 = 96 UMS
24/24 = 100 UMS

Overall qualification (AS VCE)

240-300 = A
210-239 = B
180-209 = C
150-179 = D
120-149 = E
Below 120 = U

Overall qualification (AVCE)

480-600 = A
420-479 = B
360-419 = C
300-359 = D
240-299 = E
Below 240 = U

Overall qualification (AVCE Double Award)

960-1200 = AA
900-959 = AB
840-899 = BB
780-839 = BC
720-779 = CC
660-719 = CD
600-659 = DD
540-599 = DE
480-539 = EE
Below 480 = U

Hope this helps
