I've got it. You need to get a regular regieme going before you go to bed and stick to it. These are some things i've done which work very well.

1. Get bathed or showered etc using some sort of lavender or eucalyptus bath/shower gel - www.salonskincare.co.uk do some good eucalyptus stuff by molten brown.

2. Have a candle or something in ur room that'll make it smell relaxing.

3. Turn off all lights/ hifi/ mobile etc and close your curtains so you don't get woken up by the sun. (blackout curtains??)

4. Hot drink before bed NOT COFFEE OR TEA

5. get into bed at the SAME time everynight whether you're tired or not.

6. Wake up at the same time every morning even if you're still tired, you'll sleep better the next night.

7. Avoid caffine and alchol from 7pm onwards lol.

I have it too, though not as severely. I think it's very important to feel completely confortable in your sleeping environment. So make sure you room feels clean, airy and pleasant. Try to make your bed, so it feels lovely and snuggly when you get into it. I know this sounds extremely airy-fairy-mumsy, but it makes a HUGE difference for me.

Then again, it could be caused by a more complex psychological problem, or even a chemical imbalance; neither of which will be solved by simple comfort. If you've got the type of insomnia which makes you go without sleep for actual days, you obviously need more than a nice glass of milk. And this is clearly unbearable for you. My advice is to go see a specialist.

Good luck! xxx

Weed is your friend.
Is there any specific thing that you could relate your insomnia to?

Are you worried or thinking too much about something?

Seriously though, if you go 4 days without sleeping I would really consider going to the doctor to try and find the source of the problem.

A sleeping pill is a good temporary solution but I woul try and avoid taking them every night because it wont solve your problem in the long run.
I get bouts of insomnia and hypersomnia. Sounds weird but sometimes I sleep for 16 hours a night, for maybe a month, and no matter what I do to try to change it I can't... and then sometimes, like last night, I'll go to bed at 5am finally absolutely knackered and just lie there for hours not being able to sleep. I didn't sleep last night. In fact I got up and did maths. And then not sleeping goes on for days too... not as if they alternate or anything, which would be understandable, but I'm always either sleeping too much or too little, in dangerous amounts.

I managed to retain a sleep pattern for about 2-3 weeks though recently. In fact - seriously - it was my first real sleep pattern ever.

But I guess it didn't like me because it ****ed off. So now I'm pretty much where you are... although less tired, I imagine. I have no suggestions except drink Lucozade. You get energetic for about 15 minutes then you're absolutely worn out.
For me i eat chocolates. Seems to calm me down real fast and I'll doze off in no time.

I can't sleep when I've not seen my Boyfriend for ages and then can't sleep for nerves the night before we meet up again.
