Hi, I am just wondering if you need to take a foreign language to be accepted into Oxbridge?
Or if I took a Spanish AS would that count?

Thanks,

Here are the basic matriculation requirements...

And the answer appears to be: Yes, and yes.

Thanks for the quick response

I would imagine that if they thought you were good enoguh they would take you without a language (they can waive matriculation requirements) but equally better have a good reasonfor not having one
I havent taken a language for GCSE would it affect my application.

It tells you what you need on the Cambridge website:

Yes, you will need a pass at Grade C at GCSE Level in a foreign language. If you don't have this it might be worth contacting the admissions office of a college you like to see what they suggest you should do.

Obviously it depends what subject you apply for. I know someone who got an offer for english, admittedly they took GCSE French, but Im pretty sure they got an E. So it clearly doesn't matter much.

My friend got into Cambridge without any languages but he was dyslexic - I'm not sure how important it is in reality, if the subject is not related to languages and you're good enough then I don't think they'd be picky. But it's best to ask the admissions tutor for the college you're applying for just to be sure.
