For edexcel chemistry what do we need to know about heterogeneous and homogeneous catalysts?
Do we need to know about adsorbing and desorbing?

Thanks

I do OCR...but it's probably similar. For heterogenous catalysts you'll want to know that products and reactants are in different physical states, and that for homogenous catalysis, products and reactants are in the same physical state.

As for adsorbtion and desorbtion, well they're just the words to describe a molecule joining to a catalyst surface, and leaving it. If you've got to know the 4 stages of a heterogenous catalyst, it's:

1. Products adsorb onto the catalyst surface
2. Bonds within reactant molecules break
3. New bonds form (to form products)
4. Products desorb from the catalyst surface

Hope that helps
