Just going over some past papers and I always see selection pressure when talking about resistance and stuff.
I would appreciate if someone can give me a simpletons defintion of it because I dont seem to understand the concept, an example would be good too. Thank you

Selection pressure is a change in the environment which causes an individual to adapt in a certain way. The examples in exams is usually how cows are selectively bred and the selection pressure is how the beneficial variations are picked from offspring and bred further through generations.

A selection pressure is a change in the organisms environment that requires it to adapt.
This is the basis for evolution as there will be a environmental selection pressure and those with characteristics to survive will survive and reproduce. This allows them to pass on their desired characteristic and over time allele that's desired will be in most of the population.
