Weight watchers?!? Why pay when you can do it all yourself.. simply eat less, just have the willpower to, no amount of weight watchers coaching can help you there, you gotta do it yourself and eat less so that your body uses up the stored calories and thus you lose weight
If your not into exercise which a lot of people aren't ... try and make some fun out of it, there is no need for treadmills or expensive gyms...try getting some friends together and acting like your 12 and play rounders for an hour or so, and other games like that. That's what I would personally recommend.

If its any consolation I am the same height as you and wear a size 14, my weight is 11.5 stone and my doctor told me I am getting fat and had a go at me....ok so you are 2.5 stone heavier than me BUT cheer up =)

And like the above posters have said...distance yourself from those who make you feel bad i.e. those who say you are fat, because they are the ones who will make you not achieve your goals i.e. 'i might as well live up to what people call me'

Good luck hunny x

Worry less about exercise and more about diet. After all, you can work out 1/2 hours per day at most, and the rest of the time your body is dealing with what you put into it.

At your weight you should be able to lose weight fairly easily without being too hardcore with your diet. Try to avoid sugars/processed carbohydrates as well as saturated fats, get 1500-1800 calories per day, try and increase protein intake from clean sources, and fill up on fibrous green vegetables. Red the nutritional information on everything and you should be gold as long as you're sensible.

Of course, it will get to a certain stage where your bodyfat percentage will be at the point your body is happy and you'll plateau, and if you want to go below this I would suggest something like carb cycling or calorie cycling, or possibly a CKD if you can hack it.

As for exercise, do weights and cardio if you have time. If not, just weights. They raise your resting metabolic rate for longer than cardio, and also muscle repair partitions nutrients away from adipose (bodyfat) stores as well as the increased muscle mass increasing your basal metabolic rate.

Good luck! Feel free to PM me if you need more help.

I'd worry about exercise too - as you lose weight, your metabolism slows down (big people have a more rapid metabolism), so your weight loss slows too. Without exercise, a calorie controlled diet is pointless.

You might want to try something like a low GI (glycaemic index) diet, restricting your intake of insulinogenic foods. Kylie has been doing it for years, and it's recently receiving a lot of support in the medical world... Largely because it is not restrictive nor dangerous (unlike diets such as Atkins)...

I'd really recommend WeightWatchers to anyone. My mum used to go and she taught me everything from there. Although regular meetings might be helpful for motivation and keeping you on the right track they really aren't essential. If I were you I'd go a few times until you get the hang of what you're doing and the points system then go it alone. Points make your food intake easy to regulate and you're never hungry because there are certain foods you can eat unlimited amounts of. You don't have to cut anything out of your diet, it's all about balance and moderation.
