Lke don't look back in anger by oasis. You know the part" slip inside the eye of your mind, don't you know what you mind find, a better place to play".I know it says it's all in the mind but it's just the way he said it though

Ooo there's so many songs with great lyrics!!

I'll list a few of my favourites

Twin Atlantic - We Want Better Man

"If you believe in writing the plan
Ignore all the orders and destroy all that can't"
"So here is the handle, now get a ****ing grip
And say we want better man until they can't ignore it"

Apart from the amusing handle bit I just love the fact that this song is all about if you want to make that change in society then keep pushing until you make that breakthrough.

Frank Turner - Photosynthesis

"Oh maturity's a wrapped up package deal so it seems
And ditching teenage fantasy means ditching all your dreams
All your friends and peers and family solemnly tell you you will
Have to grow up be an adult yeah be bored and unfulfilled
Oh when no ones yet explained to me exactly what's so great
About slaving 50 years away on something that you hate,
about meekly shuffling down the path of mediocrity
Well if that's your road then take it but it's not the road for me"

You don't have to give up on stuff and lead a boring life just because it's what society says you should do, go and live what you want to live.

Gabrielle Aplin - Home

"'Cause they say home is where your heart is set in stone
Is where you go when you're alone
Is where you go to rest your bones
It's not just where you lay your head
It's not just where you make your bed
As long as we're together, does it matter where we go?"

Home to me is many different places and memories and stuff and I just love her presentation of home being more than just where you sleep at night.

Agadoo doo doo push pineapple shake the tree
Agadoo doo doo push pineapple grind coffee
To the left to the right jump up and down and to the knees
Come and dance every night sing with a hula melody

I met a hula mistress somewhere in Waikiki
Where she was selling pineapple playing ukulele
And when I went to the girl come on and teach me to sway
She laughed and whispered to me yes come tonight to the bay

The lovely beach and the sky
The moon of Hawaii
The rum calypso sarong
We'll all be singing this song

Agadoo doo doo push pineapple shake the tree
Agadoo doo doo push pineapple grind coffee
To the left to the right jump up and down and to the knees
Come and dance every night sing with a hula melody

Agadoo doo doo push pineapple shake the tree
Agadoo doo doo push pineapple grind coffee
To the left to the right jump up and down and to the knees
Come and dance every night sing with a hula melody

Agadoo doo doo push pineapple shake the tree
Agadoo doo doo push pineapple grind coffee
To the left to the right jump up and down and to the knees
Come and dance every night sing with a hula melody

Then down on the shore
They gather romance
She showed me much more
Not only to dance

Agadoo doo doo push pineapple shake the tree
Agadoo doo doo push pineapple grind coffee
To the left to the right jump up and down and to the knees
Come and dance every night sing with a hula melody

Agadoo doo doo push pineapple shake the tree
Agadoo doo doo push pineapple grind coffee
To the left to the right jump up and down and to the knees
Come and dance every night sing with a hula melody

The lovely beach and the sky
The moon of Hawaii
The rum calypso sarong
We'll all be singing this song

Agadoo doo doo push pineapple shake the tree
Agadoo doo doo push pineapple grind coffee
To the left to the right jump up and down and to the knees
Come and dance every night sing with a hula melody

Agadoo doo doo push pineapple shake the tree
Agadoo doo doo push pineapple grind coffee
To the left to the right jump up and down and to the knees
Come and dance every night sing with a hula melody

Agadoo doo doo push pineapple shake the tree
Agadoo doo doo push pineapple grind coffee

At the Chime of a City Clock by Nick Drake, just for the sheer power of it. And if you feel like you understand the lyrics then you will COMPLETELY understand the lyrics.

Mostly anything by Neutral Milk Hotel, especially off their second album, "In The Aeroplane Over The Sea". The songs "The King of Carrot Flowers", "Two-Headed Boy" and the album title track "In The Aeroplane Over The Sea" all have fantastically obscure lyrics at first glance, but once you've learnt the meanings of them and start to sing along to the songs, it feels as if you understand them completely. It's as if you can relate to everything said in the songs, though it's near-gibberish to any outsiders .

I am listening to 'ordinary love' by u2 a lot these days. It has some great lyrics like:

'We can't fall any further if
We can't feel ordinary love
And we can't reach any higher,
If we can't deal with ordinary love '

Overpowered- Roisin Murphy. Seriously incredible lyrics. Really, look into the lyrics and you'll see why:

When I think that I'm over you
I'm overpowered

Your data, my data
The chromosomes match
Exact as in matter
A matter of fact

These amaranth feelings
A cognitive state
Need the love object
To reciprocate

When I think that I'm over you
I'm overpowered
It's long overdue
I'm overpowered

When I think that I'm over you
I'm overpowered
It's long overdue
But I'm overpowered

As science struggles on
To try to explain
Oxy-toxins flowing
Ever into my brain

As science struggles on
To try to explain
Oxy-toxins flowing
Ever into my brain

A chemical reason
If reason's your game
A chemical needing
Is there in the brain

With preprogrammed meanings
Like a little more pep
Alien feelings
We have to accept

When I think that I'm over you
I'm overpowered
It's long overdue
I'm overpowered

When I think that I'm over you
I'm overpowered
It's long overdue
I'm overpowered

As science struggles on
To try to explain
Oxy-toxins flowing
Ever into my brain

As science struggles on
To try to explain
Oxy-toxins flowing
Ever into my brain

I'm overpowered

Anything by Pulp. Jarvis summed up whatever era of Britain they were writing about at the time, with some scornful, funny and smutty poetry. Particularly in the song I Spy:

"You see you should take me seriously.
Very seriously indeed.
Cause I've been sleeping with your wife for the past sixteen weeks,
Smoking your cigarettes,
Drinking your brandy,
Messing up the bed that you chose together.
And in all that time I just wanted you to come home unexpectedly one afternoon,
And catch us at it in the front room.

You see I spy for a living,
And I specialize in revenge,
On taking the things I know will cause you pain.

I can't help it,
I was dragged up.
My favorite parks are car parks,
Grass is something you smoke,
Birds are something you shag.
Take your "Year in Provence"
And shove it up your ass."

The Boxer by Simon and Garfunkel.

I think all of the song lyrics are fantastic but particularly the final verse:

In the clearing stands a boxer
And a fighter by his trade
And he carries the reminders
Of ev'ry glove that layed him down
Or cut him till he cried out
In his anger and his shame
"I am leaving, I am leaving"
But the fighter still remains

'Saturn' by Sleeping at Last. Awfully cheesy but they're perfect when you're in the mood for a good old mope.

You taught me the courage of stars before you left.
How light carries on endlessly, even after death.
With shortness of breath, you explained the infinite.
How rare and beautiful it is to even exist.

I couldn’t help but ask
For you to say it all again.
I tried to write it down
But I could never find a pen.
I’d give anything to hear
You say it one more time,
That the universe was made
Just to be seen by my eyes.
(x2)

With shortness of breath, I’ll explain the infinite
How rare and beautiful it truly is that we exist.

Earth Song (...the biggest selling MJ song in the UK and no one seems to be playing it on the radio anymore)
Where Is The Love? (...the most influential song from a band who's gone downhill ever since)

Every other song seems to be about "love" or "partying"

Pretty much everything by The Smiths, 'I Know It's Over', 'Suffer Little Children' and 'Hand in Glove' to name a few.

Early Manic Street Preachers stuff such as 'Faster', 'Motorcycle Emptiness' and '4st 7lbs'

Everything by Joy Division, namely 'Atmosphere' and 'Atrocity Exhibition'

Most of that stuff is pretty depressing, but i guess the most vivid imagery comes from the depressed mind.
