hello people
so yea i took maths and physics for a level
i gave as physics earlier got a B

as of january 2014 i have made a cash in code for maths

C1,C2,C3,C4,S1,M1 and achieved an overall grade of B

Now for this IAL June 2014 exams i am giving

C1 C2 C3 C4 F1 F2

Physics 4 Physics 5 Physics 6

i did cash in code

now i know i will have Maths and Physics as 2 subjects
My query is about further maths

Will it be taken as a 3rd subject? becoz i know people took f1 f2 f3 and not c1-c4 to complete further pure maths
So how valuable is my further maths grade. i have even heard it will be taken as half a subject in university
So will i get any benefits from the further maths grade? will my other math subject go away? how much benefit do i get compared to those who took f1 f2 f3 and s12 d2 etc. for university

I don't know the IAL system but if it works the same as the UK exam boards you need 6 modules for a full A level and 3 modules for an AS level. It looks to me as if you have enough for one full A level plus 2 extra modules (F1 and F2) which aren't sufficient to give you another qualification.

Hopefully someone who knows IAL will drop in and give you more info!

i have seen in edexcel specifications

Pearson Edexcel International Advanced Level in Pure Mathematics (YPM01)
Qualification - IAL Pure Mathematics
compulsory units - C12, C34, F1
optional units - F2 or F3

Pearson Edexcel International Advanced Level in Pure Mathematics
„„ The Pearson Edexcel International Advanced Level in Pure Mathematics
comprises four units.
„„ The International Advanced Subsidiary is the first half of the IAL course and
comprises two units; Core Mathematics unit C12 and F1.
„„ The full International Advanced Level award comprises four units; C12, C34, F1
and either F2 or F3.

So i wont even get a IAL Pure Mathematics grade?

and a bit correction i am giving c12 c34 f1 and f2 this june
2014

i have given c12 on may 19 and on 6th june 2014 i am appearing for f2

so if it means that i am not gonna get a grade
i think im in a bit of mess.
so any help appreciated

For Maths you need to take 6 modules. Example: C 1/2/3/4 S 1/2

For Further Maths you need to take 6 different modules. Example F 1/2/3/3 M 1/2

That is two different A levels.

This is very good for reading maths, physics, engineering, or economics at top universities.

You must read exam subject specification very well. Be careful.

I'm not familiar with the structure of the international qualifications, but as Old Simon says, you can't use modules for 2 different qualifications - if you've used C12 and C34 for A level Maths then you can't use them again for a Pure Maths qualification!

Don't you have a school or an Exams Officer to advise you on this?

Really? I'd be very surprised if a university sees them as 3 separate A levels if they know that you've counted C12 and C34 as part of two separate qualifications!
