The Student Room Group

Solved

Hi. This is just a small query. The question asks to find the speed in part a so I use v=wr (w is omega). However we aren't given the radius and the mark scheme uses the length instead. Why? I thought r=Lsin○ (if is the angle at the top) ?
Also part b uses N2L but it puts T=mrw^2 and doesn't resolve it to Tsin○=mrw^2 like usual. Why?

If what I asked doesn't make sense please do say.
Thanks for your help

Read the question again, carefully - it's not a conical pendulum.
Haha oh wow I feel kinda stupid now! But thank you! That really cleared it up for me.

np. Everyone does it - just don't do it in the exams.
