Treating Thrush

Highly unpleasant.

I've recently been put on a pretty intensive course of antibiotics; 3 x penecillin x 4 a day, for about 5 days in total. Being a pretty intense and high dosage course, I thought it would give me thrush and lo and behold it has.

I have bought cansten duo, but I'm not actually sure whether to take the tablet now, or whether to take it after I have finished my course (Sunday)? If I don't take it now...Will I be ok "having" untreated thrush for 3 more days?

Apologies for the rank subject, not overly pleasant to have either :frown:

I would have thought you could take it now as long as it doesn't say anything about it on the antibiotics' leaflet. It's not the nicest thing to have. If you're sleeping with someone it can infect them as well, so you might have to consider that. I would phone your local pharmacy and ask them to settle your mind.
Hope it clears up soon! My only consolation when I get thrush is that it's not as bad as cystitis
try home remedies. live yoghurt on the effected area (gross but works for some people) otherwise just use cooling/numbing creams. i used germolene and it worked for me (tingled for a bit first). is there enough cream in the duo pack to soothe you for a couple of days? if not, get the cream.
check on the pack whether you can take the pill with antibiotics. xx

There should be enough cream for you to use for a couple of days. As far as i'm aware you can have the pill now, but don't take any other of the antibiotics after!! Have a quick scan of the leaflet that comes in the back to make sure

No...Not as bad as cystitis! Thrush is uncomfortable, cystitis is pain.

I was meant to be having a romantic weekend away with my boyfriend this weekend, first I get a throat infection, so get the antibiotics, which mucks up my pill, so I now can't kiss him or touch him. Then I get this and he can't even touch me. Fantastic.

Very civilised weekend ahoy.

Forgot to say:

Went to the pharmacy (when I bought it) and totally forgot to ask about being on antibiotics. I have the cream, which doesn't do *that* much...I just don't want to take the pill, then it come back after another 3 days of antibiotics. Equally, I don't really want it for another 3 days.

Grrr. Why do I always get these things?
because God hates fornication lol :P

I actually saw a page on this at the nusonline.co.uk website...I didn't know men could get it too (wow i'm ignorant haha)
as mentioned above, you should read the labels and if it says don't take while on other meds then...don't take!
U take that damn tablet as soon as u can
