Changing from L100 to L102 economics. . . . .

HI, I HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED ON THE l100 ECONOMICS COURSE AT mANCHESTER, WITH aabb at A level, a in maths n economics, b in f maths and french. it was my insuracne. my problem is that i would prefer a more mathematical degree than L100, so my question is that should i request to be transferred to the L102 course before i accept my offer, or after I have joined the uni....thanks.

Just do it after you accept. Speak to the Director of Undergraduate Studies for Economics before term starts. I've found that people are very happy to facilitate this sort of thing so long as it's sensible. Just be prepared to study some solid statistics if you choose a more maths-based economics course.

My knowledge is second-hand, my friend is on Economics.

His course included, in second year, the two-semester econometrics module. This was intensive on statistics, infact I don't remember seeing anything else in the relevant notes and past papers. But this is much of the maths you have to worry about. I think if you do BA Economics rather than BSc Economic Science (or similarly named course) your course is less maths-intensive.

I recommend browsing through the undergraduate section of the department's website.

I have the same problem as Sul. I got AAAB with A in maths and A in economics and i am going to Manchester coz bristol wanted AAA in hist math and eco and i ended up with a B in history. I sent them an email about the course transfer and they answered saying that the L102 course has filled up. Bummer. I really really wanna do L102 and i was so clueless when i chose the BA back in october. I reallllly wanna switch. Any tips???

I jus really hope it is possible. Even though they say everything can be done with hard work i jus hope they let us switch.

I did that exact switch back in June, when I did it they said that after the first year, you can choose modules so that the L100 course copies the L102, its only the first year that differs.
