What sort of things are good to read before beginning the course on Languages and European Studies?

Which languages are you studying?

For European Studies, if your grasp of European History is a bit shaky I'd get yourself the Penguin History of Europe or the Oxford History of Modern Europe. I took the European Studies courses as options in my first year and loved them (I do Politics with Economics)
It's also worth getting hold of the OUP Very Short Introduction to the EU, and maybe Heywood's Key Concepts in Politics.
