What are people in Germany like?

First of all I would like to say that if I have offended you I apologise and did not intend to do so.

From what I have read and heard many people in Germany dislike pakistani's and indian's but I would suspect that they would be the ones who don't speak fluent German and are somewhat backwards.

I made this thread as I would want to study physics in Germany when I'm of the age.

Again, I'm sorry if I offended anyone.

Also are they friendly and what is their English like as I am planning/saving for a summer trip over there and am in the early stages of learning the language but have over a year.

Hay,

I am from Germany and I don't think that many people in germany dislike all pakistanis and indians. I think it is just a case of people being carefull because they don't know you.
Depending on where in germany you want to go to people also behave differently. For example being a foreigner in the countryside is often harder than in a city.
I think if people notice that you are trying hard to speak german and that you are friendly to them they will like you no matter what race you are.
Most german people have quite a good knowledge of english as it is a compulsary subject in every school untill you do your GCSE (or rather the equivalent to GCSEs). However, if I was you I would try to not speak any english at all. using a language is the best way to learn a language. So don't speak english if you want to learn german.
