Hi, I've started my A2 year and I'm not continuing with A2 Chemistry. Instead I'm taking AS Further Maths. I wanted to take Mechanics but my lecturer told me that if I take Further Maths I'm going to cover the Mechanics module in that and so I have to take Decision Maths now. Is this correct? It may also be noted that I'm doing Edexcel.
Can someone please help me?

It depends on what you did in your AS maths and which applied maths you are doing in your A2. I'm doing AQA further maths but I can only assume it would be similar to Edexcel and for both further maths and maths you have to cover 3 modules each. Usually you will do 1 applied module and 2 pure modules so for example in AS maths I did core 1, core 2 and Mechanics 1 and in AS Further I did FP1, FP2 and stats 1. Did you do Stats1 in your AS maths? If so then you are probably going to be doing core 3&4 and Decision in your A2 maths and then the 2 further pure modules and Mechanics 1 in your AS Further Maths.

Basically you will do a total of 9 modules.

C1-4 +2 options in Maths.
FP1 +2 options in AS Further Maths.

It completely depends on what you've done in AS but I'm assuming it's C1, C2 and S1. Also I'll assume you're doing M1 as part of FM.

So you will have:

Maths - C1,C2,S1 - C3,C4, + EITHER D1 or S2
F.Maths - FP1, M1 + M2 or S2 or D2 (D2 is only an option if you do D1 in AS)

Ultimately it doesn't matter what lesson you do the modules in, all but the Cores and FP1 can move around (with a few restrictions).
