I don't understand why we have all these parties. The green party? What a ridiculous party. As if any economy could function with nature and 'Mother Earth' as a main priority.

Why are people bleating about the UKIP? Have they become more popular recently? When is the next election? When will we know if Scotland will gain independence or not?

I know the names of most political parties but I don't understand why they are different from each other.

I don't really know where to get you started since I'm not an expert myself. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Left%E2...right_politics Have a look at this although today large parties become more and more central so you have a point when you say you don't know how they are different. Then look at the main ideologies like communist, nationalist, liberal, socialist and their views on economics and society. Again wikipedia might not give you the most unbiased view but it's decent for introduction.

Also the green party isn't about being cavemen.

Edit: here's a very good picture showing the main principles of right and left wing politics: http://ebonstorm.files.wordpress.com...ht_eu_1416.gif.

I know the names of most political parties but I don't understand why they are different from each other.
conservatives = capitalism, traditionalism, some aspects of liberalism, etc
labour = less capitalism, multiculturalism, feminism, champaign, etc
lib dems = you might as well be rolling a dice with these guys...
UKIP = more capitalism, lower immigration, leaving the EU, etc
greens = socialism, environmentalism, immigration, feminism, etc
BNP = less capitalism, nationalism, racialism, etc

Labour = more equality, help for the poor
Conservatives = less equality, long live the rich, no help for the poor
Lib dems = does it even matter?

If you say you don't understand Politics then surely you can't make a judgement on whether the Green Party are ridiculous?

The current political system is bafflingly stupid so I understand that you don't get it. Basically we have competing parties that take turns to undo each other's work so that the country ultimately gets nowhere.

If you want to come to grips with your fundamental political beliefs, take a look at the political compass (link below) it isn't particularly simplified in its explanation of what the results mean but it is still an interesting thing to try nonetheless to see whereabouts you stand
http://www.politicalcompass.org/test

Also you can have a go at this quiz as well, it'll show you which party you most agree with on policy. This will perhaps probably be more relevant to you than the compass, it's a bit more interesting.
