Hi all! I sent my UCAS off on Monday and unis have actually been really quick with their offers! I got one from Liverpool John Moores yesterday and one from Queen's Belfast today! Manchester also invited me for an interview in November, I'm so nervous!
Just sent off my application to my college. I'm hoping they get my references sorted ASAP. It's so nerve wracking!

congrats!! :biggrin::biggrin:
Hi all, I'm also hoping to do zoology in 2015  wasn't really happy with my AS results - AACD (geography, history, biology and psychology) + A in my extended project but I've been predicted AAB so hopefully it'll all be okay

My choices are Newcastle, Queens Belfast, LJMU, Exeter for zoology and Exeter for biological sciences (I'll take the animal biology specialism)

Still haven't got my application sent off! School are being really slow with giving me feedback on my personal statement and they said even when I have sent my application to them it could take over 2 weeks for them to write my reference so it might not be sent off until the end of November :frown:

Congrats to everyone with offers already!

Looking online it looks pretty chilled. I think most people just go in jeans and it's like talks, show rounds and then a 15 minute interview.
I'll let you know when I've had mine if you like x
If you're considering LJMU, let me give you a little insight.

I'm currently living with a group of friends who all study Zoology and they're all in their second year. They really enjoy it and a few of their modules are the same as mine (I study Wildlife Conservation). In each year of zoology, you have five modules to do, the first year has these:

1) Animal Psychology (self explanatory)
2) Genetics & Evolution (basically A Level biology & prehistoric life (fossils etc).
3) Fundamentals of Scientific Research (introduces you on how to analyse statistics in a scientific way)
4) Habitats & Species (I loved this module! Where you go on trips and identify different species, marine and terrestrial)
5) Ecology & Behaviour (mating systems in groups of animals etc)

As for the second year, you will have more of a choice to see which modules you wish to do. You'll have three core modules, and two optional ones. The core ones are:

1) Animal Evolution & Diversity (follow-on from Genetics & Evolution)
2) Control & Perception
(follow-on from Animal Physiology)
3) Research Methods for Biosciences
(follow-on from Fundamentals)

As for the optional modules that will be available to you, you can choose from:

1) Animal Behaviour & Welfare (self explanatory)
2) Ecology Field Skills
(this module includes a self-funded residential field trip for 7 days to Tenerife)
3) Wildlife Forensics
(studies the hair molecules and bone structure of various animals)
4) Marine and Freshwater Biology
(studies the various marine species such as algae, grasses and lichens)
5) Primate Behaviour
(where you'll study primates big and small, locomotive/reproductive/social structures)
6)Wildlife Ecosystem Management
(the analysis of various ecosystems and how species communities intervene)

I hope this helps.

So excited! When I was looking into going to university about this time last year I found this site and saw the 2014 thread. Little did I know that I would be applying for 2015! I am a mature student so have enrolled onto an Access course. I got a distinction in my first assignment (Biology) which has reassured me that I am on the right track. I can't wait to start studying the things that interest me most

I am really hoping to go to Exeter (Cornwall campus). It pretty much blew all my other choices out of the water. They're even asking for lower grades than all my other choices so I feel quite confident I may be going there.

Congratulations
I'm getting impatient now lol. I wanna send off my application, but I'm not too happy with my predicted bio grade so I have speak with my bio teacher first :frown:
At least I have a bit more time to finalise my 5 choices.

Congrats to all those who hold offers!
Got an offer from Newcastle! They lowered the offer from AAB to ABB as well

Hi again!

It's great to see so many people on this thread now haha. Well done to everyone who's got offers so far, that's brilliant! Can't wait to see other people posting about their offers as the weeks go by.

I just had my application processed and sent to the unis yesterday. Came home from a nice bday meal last night to find I've been invited to an interview at Manchester on the 26th Nov. So nervous but absolutely overjoyed to have my first response, even if it is only an interview  Good luck to everyone else who's been posting about interviews there, I hope it goes well for you all.

Hey everyone, am looking for a bit of advice about going to a Manchester interview. Have had offers from Bristol and Edinburgh for Zoology and been asked for an interview from Manchester but I'm considering withdrawing my application to Manchester as Bristol and Edinburgh are my top choices... Not sure whether it's the best idea in case I change my mind! However, I've applied with deferred entry (so I know I shouldn't technically be asking on the 2015 page!) so I could always re-apply next year if I realise I've made a mistake. Does anyone know if they would see if I'd already applied?
Thanks in advance to anyone who replies!

Hi I also have an interview this Wednesday. I wouldn't be worried about it most people say that its very casual and sometimes they don't even ask them about the subject! I think its mostly a show round, talks and food by the sounds of it!
I think its best to keep your options open really, what's the worst that can happen? x
