i think it is possible.
are you having your papers remarked?

Reply 2

no, I haven't heard of anybody doing that though . . and I don't want to take a year out to re-sit, as I may not even get an offer.

Is it possible to re-sit A-level papers as the university while doing the first year of the under grad. and apply like that!

Or apply without ucas?

HELP!!!!

I don't think you can apply out of UCAS and I'm afraid I don't understand your point about doing Alevel resits whilst in your freshers year.

I had an offer of AAA . . and missed it . . Is it possible to re-apply while doing the first year of an undergraduate degree at another university?

Firstly, :hugs:
And then to answer the question:
No. You can't. It's not legal....sorry

If you are close to the boundary for the A then you should have them remarked

Reply 6

I dont know if its legal but I have a friend who did it and just never said he was studying elsewhere because they never asked.

Me too. Sooo dissapointing. I'm an IB student and needed 7,7,6 but ended up with 6,6,6, and wondered if I should try to retake the exams again next May and try to apply again? Would Oxford look at you a second time??

Yes they will, but you're strongly encouraged to apply directly to a different college so that there will be no prejudice against you in case you get the same interviewers. They welcome 2nd-time applicants - a fair number of them are successful as well.

There have been a couple of overseas students who applied to Oxford in their first or second years.

Ok, but then what do you do about references . . ?

Would it just say for example . . . student predicted a 1st . . . etc ..

Or would you have to re-take alevels to get them up as well, and it would say student predicted AAA?

Also If you arrived for an interview you would be way ahead of everyone else in the standard of your work, so if the admissions tutors saw you were applying from another university they would surerly hold some bias? e.g. you scored top in the entrance exam. . .so what!

I really don't think it's viable to do A-levels at Uni, and I don't think it's allowed if you are studying at Uni - how much did you miss your offer by? You could, alternatively, go to Oxford for a second undergraduate degree

Eh? I know several who reapplied to Oxford whilst in their 1st yr at another university.

Just make sure you don't tell Oxford you're at another university. It just shows that you're not confident, which is always a negative point.

Reply 14

...seriously though, have them remarked, and quickly

True. Particularly as you will be applying to Oxford whilst being only a couple of weeks into your undergraduate degree at university.
Who are you going to get to write your references?
Your tutor at university is inlikely to be of help in sending you to another university and your school/college teachers probably aren't going to write another reference for you if they know that you are doing the first year at another university.
