I am too! Cant wait! ...Ooh and I wonder how our new maths building is coming along! :P Anyone gonna place bets on the opening being delayed?! I hope we're able to use it at some point - and without all the staff trying to make us 'take care' of it, to keep it looking new

Do you feel that you've forgotten all the maths you've learnt? or is that just me!

I was just thinking the exact same thing (and getting rather scared by the thought  )

EDIT: I'm moving up from Bristol, so I'll be staying in halls!

Cool  Are you doing Maths on its own, or with something else?

Oh, I've forgotten it all!

Nah not quite as bad as that. But depending on the result of my resit yesterday morning I will either be a third year or repeating second year. Needless to say I'm anxious.

As to the reactions of others when I say I do maths, many simply say "oh you must be clever then", which I always take to mean "you're wierd, how can you do maths for a degree, I never got it etc etc". Some ask what it means in terms of career prospects as there is general ignorance as to the opportunities for a maths graduate: all assume I'll be an accountant or a teacher. I reckon we should stop feeling strange and embrace who we are, and say "I do maths!" with patriotic pride rather than being apologetic.

Well because i didn't do further maths I thought i best buy a good book and do some work over the summer. It's a HUGE book and I can't even remember half the stuff in the chapter called 'Introductory Work' lol. Its going to be a fun few weeks!

Lawl, hardly fair thelma!

First thing my year had to do as freshers was take a basic test. The result of this determined whether the Consolidation 1 and 2 (i.e. easy) modules were included in our program rather than a non-core each semester. Think they may have stopped this after changing the programme of study.

so, generally how's the course?
Do u study a lot? did u do further maths before uni?
