It's a masterpiece. My second favorite would then probably be 2001.

A Clockwork Orange has got to be my favourite too then either Dr Strangelove or The Shining. He's not my favourite director but I would say he is in my top 5 and most of his work is amazing

Dr Strangelove is hilarious but I think I prefer Full Metal Jacket. I guess they're completely different films though other than the fact they feature military.

Have you seen Spartacus?

Yeah, definitely one of his best. My favorite "war" film by far.

I wasn't too keen on Full Metal Jacket tbh. I'm not really that keen on full on serious war movies to start with but I would say its the war film I have seen.

No I haven't seen Spartacus but I'll check it out on imdb

It's definitely one of my all time favourites too, I think it's such a shame that it was banned for so long. Have you read the book? I'm currently reading it and its really good

It wasn't actually banned. Kubrick just refused to distribute it to the UK because he was getting death threats. It was then released here after he died in 1999. I haven't read the book, I have tried but the time I tried reading it was a time I was also very busy and it's a book that definitely needs the time to adapt to.

I don't really agree that it needs time, it's not very long and most of the action happens in the first couple of chapters, but yeah the language can be confusing I guess. When you have time you should definitely try again

I don't mean the length. I mean the language, it's definitaly something I would want to learn perfectly hence the time it would take. That's just me personally though.

The Shining is also a really good film, although Stephen King hates Kubrick's adaptation of the book. I think its one of those films you have to separate from the book to appreciate. Perhaps if I'd read the book I'd see where he was coming from, but as a stand alone piece of film, it's brilliant.

Yeah I get that, but it's actually pretty quick to learn, surprisingly
