Narrowly getting a 2:1

Hi,

Feel free to move the thread if it is in the wrong place...

I was just wondering how much of a difference scraping a 2:1 is (e.g. 61% compared to getting a much higher 2:1 (e.g. 68%) when it comes to applying for jobs which require a 2:1?

Thanks
Jobs that specify a "high 2.1" will take this into account. But there are relatively few.

Since a 2.1 grade is just a way of cutting down numbers of applicants, it's likely they'll leave your result to one side once they know you have a 2.1.
Depends if they ask for a transcript (though this is in some cases a formality that doesn't really hinder you) and what type of job. It's possible the employer might use to differentiate candidates if they are similar in other ways. Sectors like law or IB I assume would put a lot of emphasis on individual grades. Which end of the scale are you?
I think it says on the documentation "Upper Division" or "Lower Division".
Some employers will ask which one and *may* ask for a uni transcript to see EXACTLY what you got but, most don't.

From what I found out online.

A 2:1 is anything from 60-69% and will appear on your degree certificate as Second Class Honours - Upper Division.

A 2:2 is anything from 50-59% and appears as Second Class Honours - Lower Division.

Your degree certificate doesn't give your overall percentage, just your classification, so it will be the transcript (profile of results broken down into individual units/assessments) that will show how high/low of a 2:1 the person got.
