Hi everyone,

I have just joined the apprenticeship scheme at IBM, if there is anyone who is currently going through the application/assessment process I'd be happy to answer any questions you have

Best of luck

Hi,

I'd be applying for 2015, but there doesn't seem to be much information about the job roles you can apply for on the website (Technical solution specialist, Cyber security specialist and Business specialist).

So, I was wondering which one I should apply for if I want to be actually programming software and things like that rather than doing IT tasks like installing software etc.

I mean, I can't figure out if the Technical solution specialist actually develops software to solve client's problems or what? Are the Cyber security specialists coding new algorithms to catch malware, or are they just installing antivirus and making sure no-one downloads anything they shouldn't be?

So, I'm wondering if you can go into a bit more detail than the website of what the different job roles do?

Thanks

Hi,

I am also looking to apply in 2015 but I don't live remotely near to any of the bases stated on the website, the closest is a 3 hour car journey. Do IBM provide accommodation for people in a situation like this or is it just not worth applying?

Thanks in advance

It might be worth having a look at the reviews from people on apprenticeships with IBM. I know many of them are posted out to various clients and therefore the accomodation is sorted out by IBM. http://goo.gl/3Teg88

Although only those 3 sites are listed, they have additional apprenticeship sites in warwick and Manchester. Have a friend who is due to start the technical solution apprenticeship in September. Also went through IBM myself, applying for the business specialist role but unfortunately failed the assessment centre.
