According to your BMI, you are only slightly overweight and if you do have slightly higher than average muscle (which you probably do if you swim 4 times a week), it's probably not completely accurate. I wouldn't worry about it.

well no, see i knew that i'd put on a bit of flab (jeans looking a bit strained, breathing in to do them up) but i thought i was only around the 9 and a half mark.
but nope, i'm a fat girl!
any tips for how i can lose weight. i mean christ, last sat/sun/mon i cycled 30km each day! then swam wed, thur and today 50 lengths a day.
maybe i'm sleepwalking and ingesting whole tubs of peanut butter in my sleep or something

i'm still deffo a bit pudgy though....

and i'm not exercising to lose weight, more because i love swimming and cycling so much. i've ben swimming forever and biking since the start of may.

i eat three meals a day. and hardly ever drink. so i really don't understand how all this has crept on.

so anyone got any good meal/diet plans?

I think I might have your body shape, I'm prone to being chunky too but I hit the gym hard and fast, plus play netball twice a week. I suggest lots and lots of exercise!!!

Oh and drinking water before meals  I have faith in you, after all I have kept reasonably slim

Congratulations on being stupid.

I know quite a few guys who are classified as overweight according to the BMI, yet they have 6 packs.

Equally I know guys who are smack bang in the middle of their ideal BMI, yet have little bellies.

Congratulations on being an arrogant ****wit.

Squelchy gave factual information about a measurement that is widely used to determine whether someone is in a healthy weight-range or not. You are always advised to take into account muscle mass and overall build.

:pwnd:
That's really skinny!

I'm 5'1 and weigh 10 stone... I think.

Congratulations on being both illiterate and slightly offensive.

I said that according to the BMI she's overweight, but I wouldn't particularly worry about it because of the amount of exercise (meaning more muscle, as BMI doesn't take that into account). It's a reasonably good indicator, particularly as girls naturally have a slightly higher BMI. I still think the OP shouldn't be overly concerned or take drastic action if they already have a good diet and do plenty of exercise.

Well it's not really skinny when you consider the optimum weight for that height. I'm 5'10, 9.5 stone and near the lower end of my healthy weight range (note near not at) and I don't look really skinny, so I can't imagine someone 6 inches shorter and a stone heavier would look really skinny.

That said, being 10.5 stone and 5'4 is unlikely to make you look huge. OP you're doing a lot of exercise, which is great. You say you wouldn't class yourself as an unhealthy eater but what would your average daily diet be? Just an example so we can get an idea of what you do actually it, whether it be too much, too little or simply the wrong foods.

Well it's certainly not skinny but i don't think it's overweight either...

I just hate the feeling after youve ate a fatty snack and you REALLY regret it, but theres nothing you can do now:frown:

I am just a bit over that but I play rugby and cycle so my muscle mass is quite big. To the thread starter, I wouldn't worry about it too much, you seem to do a lot of sport and swimming especially will build muscle. As long as you feel healthy thats all that matters
