Repeating AS year...

I would first like to point out that I am in no way or form about to repeat AS given that I'm about to finish A2 with what I'd say are decent grades*;

Anyway, I was just curious as to what your experiences are with either repeating year 12 or people around you repeating year 12?

Our school is ridiculously strict about repeating years; unless you have a medical reason for not doing well they will just kick you out as opposed to letting you repeat. Its odd because I don't go to some expensive private school, its just an ordinary state school.

A good friend of mine had personal circumstances which caused him not to do particularly well (add in buttloads of laziness and underestimating A-Levels); despite the fact that he had an offer from a university of EE, which he could have achieved with his As grades, the school kicked him out.

So yeah I'm just curious as to what other school's policies are as I read a lot about people repeating the year etc.
