NHS Bursary, Marriage and the EU

Hi!

My wife has been living in the UK for 7 years now and is just entering the last year of her medical degree. As a result she's in the process of filling out her application for the NHS Bursary.

We've found that she's definitely eligible for the fees component but are trying to figure out if she's eligible for the means tested maintenance grant and so far this hasn't been very clear: http://www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/Students/Documents/Students/FAQ_2_0612.pdf

Here's her situation:

- She has been resident in the UK for 7 years.

- She was living in the UK for 2 years prior to the start of her academic course.

- She has previously received full student finance as the child of an EEA worker.

- She is married to a British citizen.

- She is the mother of a British citizen.

- She is currently holding full residential status and is in the process of applying for naturalisation (which will probably take longer than 6 months).

Does anyone have any idea how her application will be seen and what she will be eligible for?

Also if she's not eligible will she then be able to continue applying for support through student finance?
