spss syntax recoding/computing help

Hello,

I would like to recode a variable, but I do not know how to do this (I prefer to use the syntax file).

Basically, in my dataset q707 asks the respondent what is his/her occupation. I have a question prior to that (q704) if the respondent is employed/unemployed).
q705 asks those who are unemployed, what is the reason for their unemployment.

The problem is that q707 has lots of missing values because it lists those who answered not employed in q704 as missing! They are not missing, they are just not applicable.

How can I compute/recode on the syntax file q707 so that it does not list those who answered not employed as missing?

Thanks
