I'm approaching my 3rd Year of Business & Management and I have made a mistake

I have so many regrets on my choice to do B & M.

Firstly, allow me to give you a background of my scenario. In September I should start my 3rd year at Birmingham City University. The reason why I regret doing the course is because of my low grades, in the 2nd year the highest score I have received is 60 (I still have to get the results of one of my modules).

In my first year, the course offered alternative pathways e.g accounting, economics etc. At the end of the year, I could have chosen to do accountancy or economics for example.

I wish I did choose. :frown:

My mom wanted me to do accountancy, I should have listened but I didn't because I am terrible at Maths, but in the accountancy module I received a 70 in my exam (it was an easy one) and 60+ (can't remember the proper score) in my coursework.

I am now in debt in a hopeless course (I'm gonna get average grades in my last year, i can feel it).

Is there a way for me to escape? What if I quit?

I was thinking of doing accountancy in The Netherlands (I was born there and I can still speak a little bit of Dutch), is that possible?
Do be aware that if you quit now and wanted to restart a degree in the UK, you'd have to pay for the first year upfront with no help from student finance, which is only really an option if you have a spare £15k knocking around.

One option you could explore would be to retake year 2 at your current uni, but doing a different specialism. Obviously you'd need to get permission from your uni (speak to your academic tutor about this), but the advantage is that (assuming you haven't previously dropped out / repeated a year) student finance will pay for you to redo second year, and it will only add one extra year.

Talk to your academic tutor. It looks like they offer your university offer a HNC - would you be awarded that if you left now? Can you do modules from, say, business and finance instead? Could you redo year 2 doing accountancy modules?

Maastricht teach some courses in English but you need to research that after you have explored the options at your current uni. Grants and loans may not be available overseas.

Thanks for the replies, I appreciate it. I've decided to follow your advice and I'm going to send an email to my tutor.

Thanks again.
