i don't think its too bad, although not as highly rated as places like bristol, newcastle, bath, york. i didn't apply there as i wasn't too impressed by the course, and a friend also didn't apply (applied for biology at warwick compared to biochem elsewhere). personally not the best course around, i wanted one with placements or which was a masters and it had neither, biology looks better, although i have to admit i can't remember what it particularly was about it that put me off!
Its very ,very good for microbiology, and medical biology supposedly. Don't quite know how that fits in with biochemistry though! I was told not to apply there if I wanted to do whole organism biology (by one of the lecturers there.)

Is Nottingham a good university for Biochem?
I've always asked this question but dont usually seem to get an answer. I mean, i'd love it to be really good at Biochem, because it's my sunject of preference, plus i really like Warwick as a University. However, i dont believe it is as good as other unis at Biochem (according to times/guardian etc) , and so i'm thinking about either choosing other uni's for Biochem, or changing to something thats a strangth of warwicks i.e. Economics so as to go there!

I thought Warwick's good for Biochemistry but brilliant for Biological Sciences/Biology?? Is there any truth in this or is Warwick just not good for either?

It depends what sort of biology you like. Its very well known for virology, microbiology, medicinal biology, that kind of thing. Its naff for whole organism biology (basically the zoology side of things) and is reasonable for plant sciences.
It does a lot of biomedical research, from what I can tell.

It has a placement year now. The course isn't so mathematical as oter courses. Its more biological. If you are looking for a degree with more chemistry or maths then do chemical biology or biomedical chemistry. Placements can be all around the world AND the uni has great contacts because its got good rep. Remember its not TOP for biochem but its still pretty damn good. If you want a campus uni with an overa amazing rep and a good one for biochem, this is your uni.

(I just got in!)
