I know a Y13 picking up an AS and asked about it. Here's a brief summary of what she told me:
- The scores doesn't matter, university don't really care
- Did it because she was interested.
- Found it hard because didn't do subject for a long time.

However, the circumstances are probably different, as she took 3 AS which would be carried on, so has time to do the 4th AS again, and

So in my opinion, I think it would be good for general knowledge, and if you can and want to, then why not take it? However, it wouldn't benefit much for your CV. Although it may make you more busy, you don't have to care much about the grade anyway.

Please note that I am not an expert on this, so please be open to other people's opinions as well!
