Whoo !! I got my first choice of Oak House too. I'm staying in Beech Court BE.1.35.247

When is everyone moving up? I can only get there on the 16th because my parents are working the 14th and 15th...do you think that's going to be a problem? I hope I'm not the last one there!!

Also the letter says that I have to inform them in writing if I'm not going to occupy the place on the 14th...Anyone else's letter say that?

I'm doing the same as you for the same reasons...parents working.

I saw that about informing them, wasn't sure whether I had to inform them or not. But as it mentioned something about after 3 days the accomodation being reallocated (!) I'll probs ring them just to be safe. I dont wanna lose my place lol.

To anyone who wants to know what Oak House is like....

Well, I went to the accommodation open day back in March or whenever and I thought that Oak House definately had the best vibe. The kitchen/living room area was pretty decent in size and seemed clean too. The bedrooms were a little small but thats to be expected with any hall of residence. The flat is split into two levels. On the bottom floor there are four bedrooms and a bathroom and this floor is for the boys, and then there is a small staircase (its is very narrow and the steps are quite small...great for falling down/up when drunk! leading up the the second floor. On this floor there are again 4bedrooms and a bathroom, but this time for the girls (the girls' bathroom has a bath as well as a shower). Also on this floor is the kitchen/living room area which is open plan. As far as I am aware, only Chestnut Court rooms have washbasins in the actual bedrooms. Hope this has been helpful. see you all there soon xxx

Yeh same here, i thought Oak House had the best vibe. The kitchen/living area was the best that I saw for socialising together as it was so open and leading straight off to the other rooms, which I thought was far better than most other places where the living room was through a seperate door in the corridor.

The flats did look a bit dingy to start with but i'm sure you'll get over that when you put posters up and it make it more homely etc.

I'm in Beech Court after getting my accommodation offer changed. Can't wait!

Thanks! I didn't get chance to look around Oak House when I went to the accomodation open day, so it's nice to get a good description of it!

Hey Everyone,

Just to confirm for people:

StevieWonder – That’s right, you’re in chestnut court, on the ground floor of flat 31 and your room number is 228.

Sarah-Dale – Chestnut court, flat 41, room 312 – you’re on the top floor (The floors are counted as G,1,2,3 – boys are on floors G and 2, girls on 1 and 4)

Spooksthehorse – Holly Court, First floor, flat 8, room 063

Kt88 – Chestnut court, flat 31, first floor, room 230 : You’re actually in the same flat is StevieWonder!

Rachel047 – Chestnut court, first floor, flat 40, room 304 : your flat is below Sarah-Dales flat

Napoletana – Beech court, first floor, flat 35, room 247

Kiteo – Chestnut, Flat 24, ground floor, room 172

I lived in Chestnut court, flat 33 last year and it was fantastic.
Wishing you all a great year.

xx

Just to correct this, half the flats have the kitchen/living room downstairs and half of them have it upstairs.

Youre right that only chestnut court has washbasins - very handy!

And all of oak house has internet access.
