It's a one year course taught at Sussex that enables you to apply to St Matthews Uni in the Cayman Islands without having to do a full three year course. Some UK Med schools accept it and some places in Europe. Some dentistry courses also accept it. If you want to know more try going to http://www.sussex.ac.uk/International/Pre-Medical/MDPre-med.shtml.

From the looks of it (having asked someone associated with admissions at BL), this course is only considered in conjunction with A-Level grades. i.e. it can not make up for less than minimum grades...

The 'good' sussex course, is the access to medicine course ran by Sussex Downs. It was developed in conjunction with BSMS, and a fair few places now accept it in its own right - i.e. a pass will make up for less than minimum entry requirement grades...
Just wondering if any1 has gone or going for this option or is currently undertaking the programme, I am predicted BBBb so do you think I could get onto this one year course and subsequently be accepted into a UK medical school?
If anyone has any info on it I would be very grateful!!!

My advice - work hard and get AAA. You are predicted the grades BBB, not 'condemed' to them!

Hi guys.. this seems like a really old thread. But I was wondering if anyone could give some advice about this premed course at sussex?

I'm predicted AAC for my A2s. C for chemistry. :frown: I want to bring that to a B or even an A in june 09... But the problem then is, it's too late for medicine. I could take a gap year and reapply for medicine in sept 09 for 2010 entry.. but i really don't want to have a year of not studying.. I might forget everything I've learnt. So this pre-med course at sussex seems to be the ideal solution to keep me ahead.

Has anyone completed the course and gone onto study medicine at a UK medical school? Did you find this course useful? Or is anyone on this course at the moment?

someone please reply
thanks
