    Need help with the following:

    An electric heater consists of a large resistor resistance R, connected across the AC mains supply. The resistor is replaced by a coil which has reisistance R and inductance L. Explain with the aid of a phasor diagram whether the new heater will emit the same power.

    I dont know if they teach this at A-level, but the phase of V against I will remain unhanged in the first case (the phasor of I and the phasor of V will point in the same direction)

    as a conductor, there will be a phase difference (the phasor of I will be at right angles to the phasor of V)

    This means that power (=IV) will be different in the two cases
