I thought this might make an interesting discussion.

Which do you think is better, the North or the South?
For me it's the North, because I live in North Yorkshire.

This is just gonna be a 'whichever place you come from' vote. And as the majority will be located in the south, they're obviously gonna win.

I obviously prefer the north because I was born and raised here.

I don't have a preference. I'm half northern half southern - so I can't pick one

Certainly is north. In England anyway. South Yorkshire arguably isn't, aren't parts of Sheffield historically in Derbyshire?

Birmingham is definitely not in the south though, agreed.

I don't like anywhere north of Solihull.

Seems the further north you go the percentage of chavs go up exponentially.

Its not like, I may aswell say North London is north because it has north on the front.

I don't need a map mate.

Only southeners think Yorkshire is 'up north'.

Location: Newcastle

It makes sense now.

What would you say Yorkshire is then? Midlands?

So by your definition, someone who was born and lives in Southampton isn't a Southerner because someone from Lands End (in Cornwall) is more South than them?

No because you can't go further South than Southampton and Portsmouth with out leaving the country. Cornwell is South West.

Nope, I'm from West Yorkshire and would consider that to be north. Just because it isn't as northern as Tyneside doesn't mean it's not in the north.
