Croatia (Split area and Hvar)

hey there,

My Boyfriend and I are headed to croatia for a chilled out holiday before we head back to uni in september, 4 nights staying in Hvar town on Hvar island, and 5 nights in Split. Anyone got any reccommendations on stuff not to miss? places to go, things to see, places to eat/drink?

I don't think we're planning on travelling enormous distances (the main purpose of the trip is relaxation and spending time together having not seen each other all summer) but any tips anyone has would be much appreciated.

i went to split as part as my 'europe trip' i also went to dubrovnik and to be honest i thought dubrovnik is a lot better, there isnt really a lot to do in split and the beaches arent as nice or as easy to get to so if you can i would definitely advise going to dubrovnik over split. however if you cant then walk along the coast front in the opposite direction to the ferry port until you get to a hotel on the left which is by a big bend in the road,walk down towards it and pick up the path right by the waters edge follow it and it will take you to a very nice but man made beach. also dont miss the amazing market scene early in the morning every day, the most fresh and wonderful tasting fruit and vegetables, cheap too. be careful when buying a punnet of strawberries mind cos they often put skank ones at the bottom so ask them to tip it upside down into another punnet before you buy, thats how the locals do it, dont forget to say hvala.

I went to split a few years back...if i remember correctly theres a lot of rocky coves around, which are excellent if you are like me and enjoy diving and snorkelling, theres a lot of stuff to see! However, if your like me also dont step on sea urchins-they hurt! But at least the water is crystal clear so you can see them. Also, we went on a day trip to an almost empty island, cant remember the name of it, but we had a whole beach to ourselves, and theres plenty of these islands around, if your going with your boyfriend it will be very romantic
