I would advise against doing it , I know your probably going to say "WELL IF THEY SAY IT WHY CANT I" but its insensitive and silly , yes it is retarded that they advocate using degrading derogatory terms casually but unfortunately as someone who isn't of black descent you may come across as slightly racist .

Its the same way that you wouldn't make a holocaust joke to a jewish person etc Just accept the cultural sensitivity required regarding the word .

If you have to ask, it's likely you already know the answer.

No, it's not your word to use. As much as white people want to say "It's just a word", it's a word with significant history and power in it.

The same way gay people can use the Q/F word, straight people can't.

I mean, you can use it, but it's not free speech, you're still going to get called out on it, and rightly so.

So feel free to use whatever words you want, but don't start acting like a baby when people call your ass out.

I'd prefer it if no one used it, I cringe when my friends (not black btw) refer to each other as n words makes me uncomfortable

I think if it is a term society deems offensive and taboo, it shouldn't be used, regardless of skin colour. It isn't a question of 'why can't white people say it', but a question of 'why can black people say it'.

That's not an ethnicity.

Why "rightly so"? The word is prevalent in rap songs and is used mainly by black people. Why is it "right" that blacks should do this yet get offended when people of another ethnicity use the word?

Probably not acceptable. I would just avoid it. Weird, because in my circles of friends it's normal for every other ethnicity to say it e.g. Chinese, Indian, Asian etc., just not white people.

I'm still not sure whether it's acceptable to sing it... as seen as it appears in the majority of rap/hip-hop songs.

That the Q word is now known as the Q word annoys me. It was a perfectly good word with a definition synonymous with "mildly strange" or "peculiar", but nowadays people will look at you funny if you even use it in that context.

it's acceptable. it's not normally offensive unless the person clearly intends to cause offense by saying the word.

Cisgender heteros are so obsessed with using words that minorities use, it's kind of creepy how much they desperately want to use slurs.
