Not talking about halls since I mostly expect them to be ensuite as they are small self contained units but in private homes.
I stayed in a student place a few years ago and it was a big room so an ensuite took up next to no space, whilst after that I rented a 1 bedroom flat that used an old storage cupboard as a small shower and toilet room but it felt so strange.
The property I stayed in ensuite as a student was £10 a week more than a non ensuite room just for a toilet and shower so it doesnt seem worth it compared to someone with a similar sized room but paying less, was great when drunk though!
I have known some people with small rooms(for private, would be massive compared to halls) that have a ensuite taking up around half the space of the room so not much room to do anything else yet they think thats ok, to me I would rather have the space and a toilet which I didnt have to go up loads of steps to get to late at night or if desperate than ensuite
Do you prefer ensuite or a bigger room? Watch
