Mate was a fresh grad at AZ R&D last September, he gets 33k plus his golden handshake, he'll be knocking 50k pretty soon.

OP-41k, 44k, then 96k for the next 3 years, beyond that dunno, maybe 500k?

Eventually? You'll be in for a pleasant suprise when you see what the partners earn, I'll make that as a NQ.

Serious haha? Which firm are you at and if you go to a good uni? Was it hard to secure your training contract?

It's an American firm, small intake though so I don't give uni and it away, sorry. There are a few firms offering those salaries, Cleary's, Skadden, Bingham etc. I wouldn't recommend going for those firms just for the money though, they're quite narrowly focussed usually (in London at least) and offer a particular type of training, if you'd prefer the sort of training other types of firm (MC, SC, general City, regional, specialist shops like Clyde) offer go for that.

In terms of long term money if you did look to make equity partner (and it's a long slog with many sacrifices that not all fancy, far from certain I do myself) at any commercial law firm in London, and many outside, you'd expect to be making in excess of 90k.
NHS dentists start off on £30K, so anything equal or above that and I'd be happy.

Sounds pretty reasonable - I'm paid 18K pro rata for my summer job software engineering and they offered me 40K when I finish my degree if I wish to take it and they have a vacancy.

Wow that's awesome, so you have a job lined up before you've finished university!

Have you got a car? Because rail ticket prices are extortionate here... In places like Newcastle the rent is pretty cheap though, so you should be fine. You can live reasonably comfortably on that of money in the north, whereas you'd be pretty miserable in London.

Well not at the moment, I'm migrating in about a months time. Was kind of hoping I'd be able to travel a bit on public transport, but haven't looked into costs of that at all. Would like to have purchased buying a car as I'll only be on a 2 year visa (possibly extending after that). Would you say it would be absolutely necessary to have a car to travel around the UK, only weekend trips, that sort of thing? Or could you get away without it?

I don't see the need to..... just compare the expectations in their posts to the real world.

Million pound a year. Not including my bonus. If I sell more Mcflurry I get the bonus.

I think the 100-500k replies elaborate enough. Most on here will be lucky to ever get past 50k. As for starting salary: get above 25k and you've been very fortunate.

Wow thanks for your help your very knowledgeable  I hope you make it where you want to be in the city!
23k in the beginning. I'm studying social work.

I would love to be around 32k at the end of the day though, I hope to go into management but we'll just see what happens

With 200k-500k with bonuses. After years of experience it will rise to about 50%

However much is enough to live in a flat in London by myself, I guess. (If I want to start a family I'll need to buy a bigger house and learn to drive, meaning I'd have to at least double that)

Council tax will take the majority of anything u earn

What kind of properties can you get for the annual wage of 30k?. Outside and within london

Inside London: Nothing/Flat-Share
Outside London: Depends what part. Just outside you can get a very small flat or far away you can get a nice 2 bed, maybe even 3 bed house.
