    Hi,
Is the carpel in the flower of an angiosperm the same as the pistil? I'm kind of confused whether they mean the same part of the flower or not. By the way, these are reproductive parts of the flower, for GCSE level.
    Thanks whoever answers.
    Much appreciated.

Here's what I managed to dig up on this for you:

The pistil is made up of one or more carpels, each consisting of an ovary, style and stigma; where only one carpel is present, the terms 'carpel' and 'pistil' are synonymous, whilst a 'compound pistil' is made up of two or more carpels. However, if that's confusing, it's perhaps best to use 'carpel' and avoid ambiguity from 'pistil'.
