So myself and my boyfriend are looking to travel next summer. Between our second and third years. We have nine weeks free and want to tour America.

I have been to the States plenty of times and absolutely love it. I would love to move out there once we graduate university. He however has never been and so this is my opportunity to show him how amazing it is.

We we have a budget of £2000 each to cover all travel costs, accommodation, food and activities. First of all, is it even possible on such a tight budget?

I have comprised a list of places we would love to go but we are both aware we probably won't be able to do all of them. New York City, Washington DC, Boston, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Orlando, Miami, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Dallas.

Having toured the States alone myself once and also once with two friends I know the MegaBus is a great travel option and that HotWire is great for accommodation but any other hints and tips would be greatly appreciated.

So basically your challenge, if you wish to accept it, is to help me figure out how to see as much as much as possible, for as little as possible. Two people, travel (including flights from the UK and back), accommodation, food and activities on a total budget of £4,000. Can it be done? If so, how?

Megabus can cost practically nothing if you book it 3+ months in advance (ie. £5 for a 20 hour journey). Stay in AirBnBs. Keep an eye on holidaypirates for cheap flight deals then when you see one, just book it! Have an amazing time.
