I have currently got a conditional offer for applied social studies at Bedfordshire university but I now feel it's the wrong degree for me and would like to do mental health nursing. I have spoken to UCAS who has suggested that I write to the uni and ask them to release me from the course so as I can then go into clearing. Was just wondering if anyone has got onto mental health nursing through clearing and what their experience was?? And particularly Bedfordshire or Northampton university.

You don't need to do any of that. Most fields of nursing share the first year of the degree; it is only the settings of the placements that are different, not the assignments and structure. You can change to mental health when you start your degree as normal. Contact the university and ask them for confirmation of this. You do not need to be released or go into clearing.

Hello thank you. I am not on a nursing degree and when I did ring the uni to ask if I could change courses they were not at all helpful and basically said no. It was UCAS that told me to go into clearing

and it's only the first semester that is shared, in the second semester it's field specific, plus uni's generally don't let you change field and definitely not from a completely different degree. I think you'll have to go in to clearing.
