It is actually sexist to think that, you wouldn't like it if I said it's weird for a woman to be a car salesman.

    stop promoting double standards.

not really, men arent sensitive like women so say what you like it just rolls of my back. Do you expect me to sit and cry with a box of tissues and chocolates.

I'm pretty sure that being a nurse requires some sheer emotional grit and strength.

That's a ridiculous statement, and being a nurse is bloody hard.

Its pretty disgusting that while their are so many schemes/scholarships to bribe women into typically male dominated sectors the same does not exist for men wishing to be nurses.

Well what more can they do? Nursing is already essentially a free university couese unlike things such as engineering. In such fields women can get momentary grants usually towards their course fees or living cost. Can't rreally do that on a free course.

Nursing is a bad job. You have to touch all those icky people and the money is poor. There are a lot of council estate girls who become nurses... :giggle:

Well clearly you know nothing about modern nursing! Many nurses reach very high pay levels, many can prescribe drugs and become specialists or consultants. Doctors, especially in their early years, rely hugely on nurses.
I live in one of the most expensive towns in the country and know lots of girls and guys for that matter who're off to do nursing. In fact I'm looking ar nursing myself... My mum is a lawyer, my dad's a commodity trader, and I am predicted A*A*AA in bio, geog, maths, and chemistry. So basically you know absolutely jack.

Yes you have to look after people and some jobs are as you said 'icky' but I hope next time you or your family are sick someone points out how icky you are and refuses to help you. Because you should have a little more respect for people who're prepared to spend their lives doing jobs too icky for you, for less money than you'd like, at antisocial hours but are still prepared to wipe your sick mothers arse, or change her cannula or clean up her sick or spend hours on her paper work so she can see the right specialist quickly.

Doctors don't really 'look after people'. They treat them, nurses have the caring role and are probably the most diverse of the healthcare professions. They are entirely different jobs, you won't find many 'failed doctors' nursing because they simply arent the same job.
Can you not read well enough to cope with more than 4 lines at a time?

Your posts don't really fit your username, doctors treat people, nurses provide round the clock care, and can also carry out some roles doctors can with further training.

That is probably the dumbest **** I've seen all day. Don't be such a stupid ****. Being a nurse and a doctor are two different sides of the same coin. Doctors tend to handle diagnosing illnesses and what course of treatment is needed, but from the time I've spent in hospital they spend comparatively little time on the floor with individual patients. Nurses generally handle the actual care of the patients.

Who do you think looks after you when you're puking your guts out? Or checks up on you regularly to make sure you're ok?

I've met nurses, both male and female, who were very intelligent (probably more so than you) and could have probably become doctors if they chose, but became nurses because that's the profession they wanted to go into.

3 of my male friends at uni are nurses, honestly they were the most passionate about their degrees! Nothing wrong with it.
