Some members have unsavoury avatars that I'd rather just not see.

    Which do you find distasteful?

If you could it'd be there.

Else see if there is a script created for it : http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/show....php?t=2062836

To be honest the image of mother Teresa makes me feel uncomfortable. Like I'm being judged.

      I wouldn't mind disabling yours.

      How is that distasteful?

I just think it's stupid. Makes girls look dumb.

No need for that, I'm taking off my avatar as well soon because I hate being judged for what I look like

Don't let people put you off, they're really not worth it

People are primarily judging you based on what you post.

Or at least I certainly am.

I'll be taking it off anyway, not worth the hassle

Others have, at least in PMs.

Ah, quite commonplace on here it seems.

I think it is a good thing having a picture of your self as your avatar. It makes you seem more human in your responses. I have a picture of me.

You have a picture of a penguin as your avatar. That's far from human.

Everyone's entitled to whatever avatar they choose (unless it's NSFW or offensive). Even if you don't like you should have to tolerate it, like tolerating people in the real world.

I still feel like I'm talking to a penguin.

Not that this will be much use for the thread starter now, but for others' reference, yes avatar display can be disabled.

      Go here: https://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/pro...do=editoptions

Visible Post Elements -> Unselect the "Show Avatars" option.
