    Hi

I have just completed my first year at Imperial for computing and I failed. I failed 3 exams and I am only allowed to fail 2 in order to be allowed summer retakes. I therefore have to wait a year and retake the exams at the end of next year (I do not have to pay the fees etc just the exam costs and then enroll in year 2 when I would be normally going into year 3). I am going to speak to them tomorrow and see if there is any leiniancy in terms of an extra retake due to getting good grades in everything else throughout the year. If this is not possible I want to apply for a year in industry. I have 4 questions:

    1. If I were to apply now how early would it be concievable for me to start the placement?
    2. Would I have to tell them that I have failed? (it is fairly suspicious to be applying so late and after year 1 rather than 2 which is the norm)
    3. What are my chances of gaining a placement at a big tech company (google etc) after year 1?
    4. (related to 3) Would the fact that I have done a year at Imperial give me any advantage at this stage?

    Thanks

    Kabeer
