Anyone going to the open day tomorrow, do not go to the applied maths talk, it is the boringest thing I've ever sat through. The Oxford Mathematics courses talk and the pure mathematics talks are good though.

Do you remember the topics of the talks?

The applied maths was about maths with biology
Pure maths was about how rulars and compasses, solving polynomials and symmetry, and how they interlink (I won't spoil it for you, but it was quite good).
The maths courses talk was the big standard university open day talk, ie explaining grade requirements, the structure of the courses etc...

You should never opt for the banality of applied mathematics over pure mathematics.
