Motion on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP), TSR Green Party

This House opposes the proposed Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership and see it as an unacceptable submission of national sovereignty to multinational corporations over our democratically elected government. Furthermore, this House believes that the ability of multinationals to sue the UK government in secretive tribunals if the government does not allow the multinationals to undertake their potentially devastating activities is a complete bypass of our judicial system.

Nay, I think that what we're being asked to oppose here isn't TTIP, but rather a false view of what TTIP actually is. It's basically just a free trade deal and sure, it's not perfect, but the concerns in this motion are greatly exaggerated in my opinion :sadnod: There's a lot more to dislike about the EU than there is with this. Overall I think passing up the opportunity to have proper free-trade with the world's largest economy would be a bit of an own goal.

In fact, they should have done this yonks ago.

Any treaty which results in the loss of power to British Courts and British MPs is bad.

The TIIP is the sort of thing 3rd world countries have to sign to get US loans and market access

    'Nay'.

A free trade deal between the worlds two largest markets offsets the negatives in my opinion.
