So I am about to start my Alevels in September, I have chosen English Lit, History and Business. Does anyone else take these options? What can i expect from them? What is the hardest thing about the subject? Is there anything you could recommend doing now, to prepare for these subjects?

I do english lit as an A level! It is a difficult subject don't get me wrong, but it's also really enjoyable if you have quite a passion for english. It's only difficult due to the fact that it's a very subjective subject and isn't fact based, but along as you can justify and back up your answers with evidence you should be fine! Also if your exam board requires coursework as part of your grade be prepared to redraft many times!

What I'd suggest is to try get the reading list/the books that you'll be studying for your coursework and/or exam and start reading them. You don't have to analyse anything just read the books and get an understanding of the text; definitely read the books more than once as you seem to miss a lot of detail when only reading it once. I made the mistake and actually went into my AS english lit exam 'blind' as I had only read half of one of the books and none of the other one, so I had to find some quotes as well as interpret them within the time i had! I've started reading the books I'm doing at A2 so I don't make the same mistake as I did in AS!

    Don't worry, I'm sure you'll love it!
