I recently went on the pill & stopped using condoms with my boyfriend. Ever since then I've had a burning sensation after sex when he comes inside me & my vulva goes a little red but doesn't swell. The burning sensation doesn't last long, an hour or two maybe (quite bad/more noticeable straight after & it's like at the entrance of my vagina). I haven't had sex without him cuming but a condom did snap once and he came and there was no pain at all. I'm quite wet so I don't think it's because of dryness, it doesn't hurt at all during sex just after. Before this I've always had sex with a condom & never had this problem. Could I be allergic to semen?

I was tested negative for chlamydia, gonorrhea & thrush before stopping using condoms but did have a kidney infection recently (which I was on antibiotics for) which started with a UTI while we were still using condoms - could this be the cause? (I try to pee straight after sex to avoid another UTI.)

Hmm. If you want to experiment, you could have him come on your vulva without any intercourse and see what happens.

Any reaction if you have intercourse but he doesn't come inside you?

I might try that, thanks! I haven't told him anything about it yet. No reaction I don't think, we kinda had sex once without him coming as he went soft & that was without a condom, I didn't experience any of the burning then.

I had sex tonight as usual & the burning wasn't half as bad this time, just a bit uncomfortable straight afterwards (The only difference was I sat up straight after & most of it dripped out, tmi I know). It might be my body not being used to not using condoms..I don't know. I haven't given him a blow job yet.. I'm a bit worried I'll have a reaction in my throat if I'm allergic to it!!

    Thanks for the reply

You could have a very slight cut/tear or sore which is being irritated by the semen. Alternatively you could be allergic to semen, it's not uncommon.

Are you using any lubes? Sometimes flavoured ones can cause irritation.
