London has more going on than most other cities on the planet so it's hard to look beyond there. HOWEVER you do have to consider the fact that the place is so huge that it can actually feel like lots of different places rather than one single city you can go out and have fun in.

If you want somewhere that has a happening nightlife, a very distinctive personality all of its own and a real trendy buzz, but isn't so huge it's unmanageable, you need to look at Brighton.

London is only good of you are rich.

If you're a normal person I'd vote Leeds or Sheffield. Up North your money goes way further and there's everything you could ever want to do there really.

Bristol. Good vibes. Plenty to do but not hectic like London is.
