Dear all

As only two manifestos we're submitted as part of the Security Council Non-permanent member elections, our two representatives have been automatically elected!

Blue Meltwater - Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea)
toronto353 - Myanmar

I'm sure out of curiosity you would like to take a look at their manifestos so they are posted at the bottom of this message.

According to Chapter 5, Section 2 of the MUN Charter;

"2) The Security Council will also have two positions for non-permanent members. States are elected to these positions are elected every 3 months. Any General Assembly member state may stand in these elections. "

these members will serve as non-permanent members for three months so the next election of these positions will be held on 4th October 2014.

Good luck in your new roles!

RoryS
Secretary General

Blue Meltwater - DPRK - Manifesto
"Glorious Manifest Destiny of the DPRK"

The DPRK can today announce that it seeks divine re-election to the UN Security Council. As our Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un said to the Korean people, "We are the king of nations taking our natural place in the world."

When elected, the DPRK will continue to improve on our highly successful record. After single-handedly achieving world peace during its last term, we will focus on bringing prosperity to the masses by overthrowing the capitalist chains which bind you all. We have form on this, drafting a resolution which would end market capitalism in the Eurozone, defeated only through the devious machinations of your imperial overlords.

There is no need to thank us. We do this for you.

Vote peace, vote prosperity, vote everlasting joy through eternal Kim rule,
Vote DPRK today.

VOTE MYANMAR!

Following years of international isolation, Myanmar is ready to take its next tentative steps on its road to success. Our successful chairing of ASEAN; our observance of and dedication to upholding the principles and the spirit of democracy and our determination to forge a successful place for ourselves in the international community makes Myanmar the perfect choice for one of the non-permanent seats on the Security Council.

If elected, we pledge to:

- be a voice for smaller nations to ensure that their concerns are heard and acted upon just as much as larger countries

- raise issues within the Security Council which are of importance globally as well as to ourselves.

- Push the Security Council to maintain and build on their presence in the MUN

VOTE MYANMAR TODAY!

Great stuff!
Madagascar will possibly stand next time - my internet is currently too intermittent to be reliable, but I am moving back to the UK soon - hurrah for broadband! Looking forward to seeing what DPRK and Myanmar bring to the security council.
