    Hi friends

I am thinking off making a move from Canada to UK as a student (Pharmacy).

I would have to survive on entry level jobs I know. But I would like to get an idea what is the current situation regarding entry level minimum wage jobs? Do all students get it easily or it's competition to get into that too.

    Thanks

Every job will have competition, unless it's so specialised that only a handful of people could do it - which is unlikely.

In my opinion, the country is climbing out of a recession, meaning that the economic outlook is brighter. More and more opportunities for employment are opening up, and as such, unemployment figures are falling. This should mean that there are more opportunities for you to find employment at entry-level jobs.

However, it won't just be students you are competing against, but also those who are unemployed and not in education. Not only that, but some entry level jobs will ask for a minimum amount of hours to be worked per week and you'd have to fit that in around studying.

In short, students do not walk into entry level jobs easily, however some firms will be more willing to hire student employees than others.

Thanks a lot for your reply. It's helpful.

Do you know specifically about Pharmacist as a career in UK? I'm thinking of practising here in UK after completion of my degree.

    Thanks in advance
