Unfortunately clever does not necessarily equal employable. In my job, I use less of my degree and more of my people and organisational skills.

For example, the girl who got a 2.1, she has had numerous interviews over the last two years, and still hasn't actually got a job and is contemplating JSA. She's not the only one I know who has had difficulty getting a job, there's so many who are unemployed, and then say "it's difficult to get jobs". It may be difficult if you have no skill set, a lot older or going into a field which you have no experience in, buttttt, if you're getting interviews and you're a well educated person - clearly you're a potential candidate. I had 4 interviews and 4 offers for a job when I left uni .

There are a number of people who are putting their "clever" firsts and 2.1 degrees to work in Asda, Tesco, River Island and phones4u.
